Texas moves up to No. 2 in both major polls

Thanks to the victory over the Texas A&M Aggies and a loss by the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Texas Longhorns moved up to No. 2 in the AP and Coaches Polls on Sunday ahead of conference championship weekend.

Texas’ opponent in the SEC Championship Game, the Georgia Bulldogs, was ranked No. 5 in both major polls. The Longhorns are the highest-ranked SEC team in the AP poll.

Other SEC teams in the AP Poll were No. 6 Tennessee, No. 11 Alabama, No. 13 South Carolina, No. 15 Ole Miss, and No. 22 Missouri.

The Longhorns also moved up to No. 2 in the Coaches Poll behind the Oregon Ducks after the previous No. 2-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes dropped to No. 8. The Longhorns were the highest-ranked SEC team in the Coaches Poll. Other SEC teams in the Coaches Poll were No. 5 Georgia, No. 11 Alabama, No. 12 South Carolina, No. 15 Ole Miss, and No. 20 Missouri.
