Texas opened as a 13-point favorite over the Cyclones, according to Circa Sportsbook.
Circa set the over/under total at 55.5. The Longhorns are looking for their first win over Matt Campbell’s Cyclone program since 2018. Iowa State won in Ames, Iowa in 2019 and 2021, and topped Texas in Austin in 2020.
Last year, Texas struggled immensely at Iowa State due to mediocre at best quarterback play. Hudson Card and Casey Thompson both played, but neither could get anything going. Nor could Xavier Worthy, who recorded the Longhorns’ only touchdown but was limited to two catches for 22 yards.
Many of the characters who were a part of the Cyclones’ effort last year are gone, but star receiver Xavier Hutchinson remains.

They also were within the margin against Alabama, the only contest UT entered as an underdog.
Iowa State is 2-3-1 against the spread this season.
Other Big 12 lines include the Baylor Bears as a three-point favorite in Morgantown, W.Va. versus the West Virginia Mountaineers, the Oklahoma Sooners as a nine-point favorite at home versus the Kansas Jayhawks, and the TCU Horned Frogs as two-point favorite in Fort Worth over the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Kansas State and Texas Tech are on bye.
