Texas opens as favorite over Washington
The No. 20 Texas Longhorns will face the No. 12 Washington Huskies in the Valero Alamo Bowl, and online sportsbooks have released an opening line for the matchup between the two institutions where Darrell K Royal served as head coach.

According to BetOnline.ag, Texas opened as a four-point favorite over the Huskies. The over/under was set at 64.5.
Similar to their 8-4 overall record, the Longhorns have an 8-4 record against the spread. Texas was 1-0-0 against the spread as an underdog and 7-4-0 against the spread as a favorite. Steve Sarkisian’s team was only 5-4-0 against the spread in conference games and 2-2-0 overall while on the road.
Washington was 10-2 straight up this season, but only 7-5-0 against the spread. U-Dub was 1-0-0 as an underdog and 6-5-0 as a favorite against the spread. Away from Husky Stadium, Kalen DeBoer’s program was just 2-3-0 ATS.

Texas and Washington have battled just four times in the history of the two programs, with Texas holding a 3-1 advantage. The Longhorns won games over the Huskies in 1974 and 1975 with Royal at the helm of the program in Austin. In 1974, Texas won 35-21 in Austin. In 1975, UT prevailed 28-10 in Seattle.
Washington notched its only win over Texas in the 1979 Sun Bowl. In a battle between two top 15 teams, the Huskies defeated Texas 14-7.
The teams met in another bowl game in 2001, when the Longhorns under Mack Brown defeated Rick Neuheisel’s program in the Holiday Bowl.
