Texas opens with the third-best odds to win the 2024 national championship
The crowning of 2023’s national champion hasn’t even happened yet, but Las Vegas’ CircaSports has released odds on who will win the 2024 national title. The Longhorns had +700 odds, behind only fellow SEC teams Alabama and Georgia who were at +500.

Next year will be the first season where the College Football Playoff will include 12 teams. Programs might have to win three or even four games in order to be crowned national champion.
The rest of the top 12 was
- Current national finalist Michigan at +850
- Ohio State at +900
- Newly-minted Big 10 team Oregon at +1200
- LSU at +1500
- Ole Miss at +1700
- Florida State and Penn State at +2000
- Notre Dame and USC at +2500
Other SEC teams’ odds were
- Tennessee at +5000
- Texas A&M at +6000
- Oklahoma and Missouri at +6500
- Auburn at +1000
- Kentucky at +20,000
- Florida at +50,000
- Arkansas and South Carolina at +100,000
- Mississippi State at +500,000
- Vanderbilt at +990,000
Teams from Texas in addition to the Longhorns and the Aggies to have odds ascribed to them were
- SMU and Texas Tech at +10,000
- TCU and UTSA at +25,000
- Baylor at +250,000
- Houston and Texas State at +500,000
- North Texas, Rice, Sam Houston State, and UTEP at +990,000
In addition to Michigan and UTSA, two other teams on Texas’ 2024 schedule were issued odds by CircaSports.
- Colorado State and UL-Monroe both had +990,000 odds to win the national championship.
