The five Texas Longhorns football players who worked out at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Ind. turned in strong performances, highlighted by Bijan Robinson‘s sub-4.5 40-yard dash time. In addition, Roschon Johnson, DeMarvion Overshown, Moro Ojomo, and Keondre Coburn all posted solid numbers as part of their pre-draft process.

There was notable Longhorn pro prospect who did not receive an invitation to Indianapolis. That was cornerback D’Shawn Jamison. On Thursday at Texas’ pro timing day, the Longhorn defensive back will receive his all-important opportunity to impress pro scouts in order to bolster his draft resume.

Athleticism is sure to be on display whenever Jamison takes the field for testing. When he was a prospect for Houston (Texas) Lamar, Jamison recorded times of 4.41 in the 40-yard dash, 3.90 in the 20-yard shuttle, and 38.0 in the vertical jump as part of an impressive 116.07 SPARQ score.

His athleticism was constantly on display at Texas. The Tom Herman coaching staff felt comfortable trying Jamison out at receiver during his freshman season because of that ability. Plus, both Herman and Steve Sarkisian used Jamison on special teams in the return game.

His secondary play was more up and down. There were several highlight plays, including his two interception game at West Virginia in 2019 and a pick-six during his extra year of eligibility in 2022. But the NFL powers that be didn’t deem his play worthy of an invite to the scouting combine, meaning Jamison will have as much to prove as anyone in The Bubble on Thursday.

Jamison was invited to the East-West Shrine Bowl where he had one kick return and two punt returns. He was joined by Ojomo and Coburn, who also may try to improve their numbers from their NFL Combine performances.

For Ojomo and Coburn, it’ll be their second chance. For Jamison, Thursday represents his one and only shot at impressing scouts prior to when NFL decision makers put together their big boards.

A five-year defensive back, Jamison played in 60 games during his career. He had four touchdowns, six interceptions, 139 total tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and a blocked kick during his Texas tenure.
