Texas ranked No. 4 in the initial Coaches Poll, receives one first-place vote
The Texas Longhorns were No. 4 in the initial USA Today Coaches Poll of the year, which was released Monday morning. The Longhorns received one first-place vote.

Georgia was No. 1 with 46 first-place votes. Ohio State was No. 2 with seven first-place votes.
Oregon checked in at No. 3 but did not have a first-place vote. Alabama was No. 5. The only other team outside of the top five to receive a first-place vote was Michigan at No. 8.
Aside from Georgia and Michigan, other teams on the Texas schedule to make the top 25 included No. 16 Oklahoma and No. 20 Texas A&M. SEC teams in the top 25 included Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, Missouri, LSU, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Texas A&M.
