If the season were to end today, the Longhorns would be slotted into the No. 6 seed and host the No. 11 Alabama Crimson Tide in Austin. The four highest-ranked conference champions receive the top four seeds, so the No. 9 BYU Cougars would jump into the No. 4 seed if the season were to end today and bump every team back one spot, starting with Ohio State as the No. 5 seed.
Teams on Texas’ schedule or within the SEC to make the rankings include No. 24 Missouri, No. 16 Ole Miss, No. 15 LSU, No. 14 Texas A&M, No. 11 Alabama, No. 7 Tennessee, and No. 3 Georgia.
