The No. 7 billing is the highest Texas has ever been in the CFP rankings, eclipsing the No. 14 ranking the Longhorns received during the week 12 and 13 rankings in the 2018 season.
Other Big 12 teams to make the ranking included No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 21 Kansas, No. 22 Oklahoma State, and No. 23 Kansas State. Other teams from Texas’ schedule in the ranking include No. 8 Alabama.
Oregon was the highest ranked one loss team at No. 6.
Texas was ranked No. 7 in the most recent AP Poll and No. 6 in the Coaches Poll. The Longhorns will face No. 23 Kansas State this Saturday at 11 a.m. in Austin.
