Brooks’ 218-yard output was the fourth-most for a Longhorn against a ranked opponent and the 22nd-most in any game in program history.

Brooks also had a season-long 67-yard run to set up a Texas field goal in the second quarter, then scored on a 54-yard jaunt to close out the first drive of the second half for the Longhorns. Brooks graded 85.4% in his breakout game vs Kansas, according to Pro Football Focus.

Brooks was patient in seeing the field after sitting behind future NFL running backs Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson in his first two seasons on the Forty Acres. Now, he’s the bell cow for the 2023 Longhorns rushing attack. He’s tallied 597 yards rushing and five touchdowns on 86 carries, and almost seven yards per carry.
