Texas junior wide receiver Adonai Mitchell and sophomore quarterback Quinn Ewers were also recognized, earning honorable mention honors.
Brooks, who won Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, rushed for a career-high 218 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns and added a 23-yard reception in the Longhorns’ 40-14 victory over No. 24 Kansas on Saturday. Brooks’ 218-yard output was the fourth-most for a Longhorn against a ranked opponent and the 22nd-most in any game in program history. The Hallettsville, Texas product had a season-long 67-yard run to set up a UT field goal in the second quarter, then scored on a 54-yard run to finish out the first drive of the second half. Brooks has surpassed 100 yards rushing in three consecutive games and scored a pair of touchdowns in each of the last two contests.
Mitchell, a transfer from Georgia and a Missouri City, Texas native, established career highs with 10 receptions and 141 yards and had one touchdown in the win over the Jayhawks. His 10 receptions included four receptions of at least 17 yards and were the most for a Longhorn since Xavier Worthy had 15 against Kansas in 2021. On UT’s first scoring drive of the game, Mitchell hauled in three passes for 49 yards to help set up an Ewers 30-yard touchdown run.

Ewers, a Southlake (Texas) Carroll product, completed 25-of-35 passes for 325 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing seven times for a career-high of 40 yards and two scores. His 30-yard touchdown run to open the scoring was a career long. The win over Kansas improved his record as a starter to 11-4.
Ewers and Mitchell were recognized by SPORTyler for the second time this season having earned Player of the Week honors after guiding the Longhorns to victory at Alabama.
The Longhorns will face No. 12 Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, Oct. 7 in the Allstate Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. and the game will broadcast live on ABC.
