The 2023 Longhorns will look a lot different than the 2022 team in multiple senses. Pierce has three brand new assistant coaches. Many contributors, including Ivan Melendez, left via the MLB draft or the portal. Texas has half a squad of returning players, but also half a roster of newcomers.

The season will open in Arlington, Texas for the College Baseball Showdown on February 17-19. The Longhorns will play Arkansas, Missouri, and Vanderbilt at Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers.

The first of 36 home games will take place on February 21 when Texas A&M-Corpus Christi comes to town. The opening weekend at UFCU Disch-Falk Field will be February 24-26 when the Indiana Hoosiers make their way south from Bloomington, Ind.

The Longhorns host perennial power LSU in a midweek matchup on March 28 before venturing to Fullerton, Calif. to face the Cal State-Fullerton Titans on March 3-5. Multiple events honoring former Titan and Longhorn head coach Augie Garrido are likely.

One of the few double-midweeks on the schedule arrives March 7 and March 8. Texas hosts Sam Houston State on the 7th before Mercer heads to Austin on the 8th. Manhattan then arrives for a weekend matchup from March 10-12.

During spring break, the North Dakota State Bison head to Austin on March 14-15 for another double-midweek before New Orleans arrives a few days later for the last weekend before conference play. Texas hosts Incarnate Word on on March 21.

Big 12 play opens with a visit from Texas Tech on March 24-26. Texas then heads to College Station for the annual rivalry matchup with the Texas A&M Aggies, who knocked the Longhorns out of the 2022 College World Series.

A trip to Stillwater, Okla. is next for the Longhorns’ first look at O’Brate Stadium. Texas will battle the Oklahoma State Cowboys from March 31 to April 2.
