Horns247 was first to report. Robinson’s decision likely stems from Bo Davis leaving Texas for LSU in recent days. Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns have yet to name a replacement for Davis as the Longhorns defensive tackles coach.
Robinson, listed by Texas as 6-foot-2, 310 pounds, was lauded by Sarkisian during his signing day press conference.
“D’antre Robinson, very similar (to Alex January) as well,” Sarkisian said. “This guy is well over 300 pounds, but the athleticism. You guys probably saw some clips earlier in the year of him catching touchdown passes with one-handed touchdown catches.”
The Longhorns signed two other defensive tackles in the 2024 class in Duncanville (Texas) three-star Alex January and Lafayette (La.) Christian Academy three-star Melvin Hills. Texas signed just one defensive tackle in the 2024 class in Sydir Mitchell.

After committing to Texas over Florida, Georgia, and others in July, Robinson took a visit to Florida in September but did not inform the Longhorn coaching staff. In order to smooth things over, Robinson visited Texas shortly thereafter to solidify his spot in the class. Despite efforts from the Gators, the return trip to Austin calmed the waters of the Robinson recruitment and he remained a member of the Longhorns’ class. Robinson signed on December 20.
Robinson was ranked as the No. 273 overall prospect, the No. 28 defensive tackle, and the No. 35 prospect in the state of Florida according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
