Texas remains No. 16 in D1Baseball's top 25
After a 2-1 opening weekend against the San Diego Toreros, the Texas Longhorns remained No. 16 in D1Baseball’s top 25.

Texas won game one, lost game two in extra innings, and surged on Sunday for a 9-4 win to take the series.
The Longhorns were one of four teams in the top 25. The TCU Horned Frogs were No. 5, the Texas Tech Red Raiders were No. 19, and the Kansas State Wildcats checked in at No. 24.
Other teams on the Texas 2024 schedule were included in the top 25. Defending national champion LSU checked in at No. 3 after a 3-0 weekend. The Vanderbilt Commodores were right behind them at No. 6.
Rival Texas A&M was ranked as the No. 8 team in the country after a dominating sweep of McNeese State.

The Southeastern Conference had the most teams ranked in the top 25 with eight. Just behind was the Atlantic Coast Conference with six.
The Longhorns do not face a ranked opponent this week. Texas hosts Houston Christian on Tuesday for the first midweek game of the season.
Next weekend, Cal Poly heads to Austin. The Mustangs were picked seventh out of 11 teams in the Big West preseason poll. All four games are slated to be on Longhorn Network. First pitch Tuesday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
