Texas remains No. 7 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings

The Texas Longhorns emerged from Ames, Iowa 10-1, recording the first 10-win regular season for the program since 2009. Even with reaching double-digit wins, Texas did not move in the November 21 release of the College Football Playoff top 25.

Texas was ranked No. 7 by the committee. Texas is behind No. 6 Oregon and ahead of No. 8 Alabama, No. 9 Missouri, and No. 10 Louisville.

The Longhorns defeated the Crimson Tide during Week 2 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. by a score of 34-24.

The Longhorns were ranked behind No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Michigan, No. 4 Washington, and No. 5 Florida State. Georgia is scheduled to take on Alabama in the SEC Championship game. Ohio State and Michigan play this Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich. with a spot in the Big 10 Championship game on the line.

Texas faces the Texas Tech Red Raiders this Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium. If the Longhorns win, they clinch a spot in the Big 12 Championship in Arlington, Texas for the first time since the 2018 season. The contest will be televised by ABC.
