Steve Sarkisian’s team was once again one spot behind No. 6 Oregon, the highest ranked one-loss team. The Longhorns remained ahead of No. 8 Alabama likely due in large part to their head-to-head win over the Crimson Tide in September. Oklahoma, who was No. 9 in last week’s rankings despite the head-to-head win over Texas in the Red River Shootout, dropped to No. 17 after losing to Oklahoma State in the final scheduled Bedlam game.
The Longhorns’ No. 7 ranking is tied with last week’s ranking for the highest Texas has ever been ranked in any CFP top 25.
Other Big 12 teams to make the ranking included No. 15 Oklahoma State, No. 16 Kansas, No. 17 Oklahoma, and No. 25 Kansas State
