With one week left in the regular season, D1 Baseball has released another edition of its college baseball Field of 64 projections.

Texas remains on top despite losing five of its last six SEC matchups and falling to No. 3 in D1 Baseball’s own rankings.

The Austin Regional would feature matchups against Dallas Baptist (No. 20 RPI), UTRGV (41), and Oral Roberts (99). Texas, given its national seed, would be able to host through the Super Regional, potentially facing No. 16 seed West Virginia, a former Big 12 opponent.

Texas is followed seed-wise by LSU, Arkansas, and Florida State. Though Arkansas swept Texas two weekends ago, the Razorbacks followed it up with a series loss to the Tigers just one week later. With LSU having already lost a series in Austin this season, ranking the top three became a bit awkward. Texas likely retained the top spot because of its steady lead in the SEC title race. Even just one win against Oklahoma this weekend would clinch a co-title and put the Longhorns in a fantastic position to win the conference outright.

The SEC’s dominance is clear in these rankings. D1 Baseball currently projects 13 SEC teams to make the tournament, leaving out only Texas A&M, South Carolina, and Missouri. A&M fell out of the most recent projections after being swept by the Tigers last weekend.

The conference holds six of the top seven seeds and is firmly in place to host up to three more regionals, depending on the final weekend. Alabama is in a position to host in Tuscaloosa, while Tennessee and Florida are right on the hosting bubble. Another series loss for the Volunteers has hurt their case, while Florida’s stock has risen significantly over the past month, especially after their win in Austin.

The Gators and Crimson Tide will face off this weekend, while No. 15 RPI Tennessee and No. 17 RPI Ole Miss could take down top seeds Arkansas and Auburn. An A&M sweep at Georgia may also be enough to add them to the Field of 64. The SEC is exceptionally strong this season, coinciding with Texas and Oklahoma’s first year in the conference.

The Longhorns will face the Sooners starting Thursday at 6:30 CST in Norman. Oklahoma is not currently on the bubble, but a series loss would make their postseason bid much more precarious.
