Texas began the day at No. 25 in the class rankings, but moved into the top 20 quickly.

Steve Sarkisian and the Texas staff’s Saturday run began with On3 Industry Ranking 4-star Parker Livingstone committing at 12:30 p.m. central.

Livingstone’s pledge was followed by another DFW area prospect at 1:30 p.m. Duncanville’s Alex January committed to the Longhorns and the Texas legacy became the first defensive line target to commit to Texas in the 2024 cycle. January, who will play over the ball, made an official visit to Texas June 23-25 and picked the Longhorns over LSU.

The commitment of January pushed the Longhorns up to the No. 17 spot.

The final commitment of the day was another 4-star prospect. Fort Worth native and IMG Academy safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell committed to Texas over Ohio State, Michigan, TCU and USC shortly after 2 p.m. The commitment of the No. 187 ranked prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking moved Texas up one more spot to the No. 16 position.

All told, Texas moved up eight spots to finish the day at No. 16 overall in the class rankings.

The Saturday move has positioned Texas in a prime position to vault into the top 10 later in the month.
