After Texas took care of business versus the Wyoming Cowboys on Saturday, and following Florida State’s struggles on the road versus Boston College, the Longhorns and Seminoles flipped places in the AP poll. Texas is now ranked No. 3 in the AP poll and received three first-place votes.

Georgia remains No. 1 and Michigan is No. 2.

Florida State is No. 4, USC is No. 5, and Ohio State is No. 6.

This is the Longhorns’ highest ranking in the AP poll since 2009, when Texas finished as the No. 2 team in the country. The only other Big 12 team to make the ranking was No. 16 Oklahoma. Kansas State, TCU, and Kansas were in the receiving votes category. The Wildcats dropped out after a loss to Missouri.

No other team from Texas was within the top 25.

The Longhorns were ranked No. 6 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll behind Georgia, Michigan, Florida State, Ohio State, and USC. The Longhorns did not receive any first place votes.
