Only a few members of UT’s Class of 2024 didn’t enroll for the Spring semester in January. One of those was Scottsdale (Ariz.) Desert Mountain four-star cornerback Santana Wilson.

While the 6-foot-0, 173-pound and son of former All-Pro defensive back and current Carolina Panthers vice president of player personnel Adrian Wilson, signed with the Longhorns in December, he still has work to do before he moves to the Lone Star State.
“Just working out, making sure I’m doing the right things,” Wilson told Inside Texas. “Sleeping right, conditioning, all that stuff.”
Since Wilson jumped into the burnt orange boat last June, he was able to watch the Longhorns have a tremendous 2023 season capped by a Big 12 Championship and College Football Playoff berth.
“It was definitely something great to watch,” said Wilson. “To see that we are just getting started with things. With all our talent, we should be able to win a natty at Texas.”
Wilson is focusing on track and field now at the end of his high school career.
“I think I’m going to get into it,” said Wilson. “The 100 meters, long jump, 200 meters, and 4×1 relay.”

Excerpt from the Recruiting Notebook:
How he fits at Texas: Wilson is very similar to Terrance Brooks, son of former San Francisco 49ers safety Chet Brooks. Both have fathers who were hard-hitting, NFL safeties, both are bigger with length, and both have high level man coverage technique which probably stems in part from having professional fathers.
At 6-foot-0, 173 pounds, Wilson ain’t near as big as his dad just yet but he’s good sized for corner and uses it well to jam up receivers in press coverage. He has elite quickness for sticking on receivers and making plays in run support after peeling off his man. He would probably project to playing in the boundary for Texas where he could mix in some blitzes and run duties and while using his size to jam up big receivers. – Ian Boyd
Wilson ranks as the No. 247 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 25 cornerback and the No. 5 player in the state of Arizona.
On3 ranks him higher than the industry, as he ranks as the No. 139 player nationally, the No. 20 cornerback, and the fourth-best player in Arizona.
