Texas wide receiver DeAndre Moore has seen it since Spring ball. The speed on this team, specifically at wideout, was on display during its 52-0 win over Colorado State at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

Three different receivers caught touchdowns on Saturday: Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, and Silas Bolden. The entire crew collected 355 yards through the air, with freshman Ryan Wingo leading in yards, Bond led in receptions, and Golden had the most touchdowns (2).

“We have a ton of great receivers,” said Moore, who credits a lot of his success to former UT wideout Jordan Whittington. “So at this point, it’s really pick your poison. Everybody knows the playbook. Everybody knows what they’re supposed to do. So at this point, it’s about, you know, going out there and playing.”

The WR room is chock full of speed merchants. Bond, Wingo, Golden, Bolden, Johntay Cook, and Ryan Niblett are just a few of the pass-catchers that could moonlight as track stars. Moore went into detail on the talent and depth in that room.

“We legitimately have two 4×1 relay teams in our receiver room,” Moore said. “So it’s really kind of cool, because our entry time is like 21.5 (mph) or something like that. So we’re all blazers, and it really just makes me go harder, because I know that Isaiah Bond or Johntay Cook, those guys are rolling, so I got to roll as well.”

As for the transfer portal additions, what did guys like Bond, Golden, and Bolden do this summer to become more comfortable with the team and fit in?

“We were able to see them contribute right away, be themselves,” Moore said. “You know, the culture really speaks for itself, and the longer you’re in it, the more you know and become accustomed to it.”

A culture that boasts more speed than any position room possibly in the entire country.
