The win over Michigan on the road snapped the Wolverines’ win streaks of 16 overall victories, a Big Ten-record 29 regular season wins, 23 home wins (their longest streak since 28 in 1969-73), 23 non-conference wins at home dating back to 2014, and 15 overall non-conference regular-season victories. Texas’ 19-point win was the Longhorns’ largest margin of victory against a top-10 team on the road since 1979. That year, UT knocked off No. 5/7 Missouri, 21-0, in Columbia. It also was the Longhorns’ biggest point differential over a top-10 team overall since 2005 when the UT knocked off No. 10/8 Texas Tech in Austin, 52-17.

A native of Englewood, Colo., Helm had a career day at the Big House. Helm set career highs in both receptions with a team-best seven and receiving yards with a team-high 98 (14 ypc). Helm tallied 45 yards after catch as well against the Wolverines. As a team, Michigan only compiled 51 yards after catch against Texas. He reeled in a 21-yard touchdown in the first quarter from QB Quinn Ewers. It was Helm’s third career receiving touchdown and his first of the 2024 season. Of his seven receptions on the day, three were for 20+ yards. Two weeks into the 2024 season, Helm leads all SEC tight ends with 140 receiving yards and ranks fifth amongst P4 tight ends. Helm’s 140 receiving yards rank ninth overall by an SEC pass catcher.

In addition to being named the Texas Star of the Week by the East-West Shrine Bowl, Helm also added honorable mention recognition from the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award on Tuesday.
