Johnson averaged a team-best 28.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while converting 46.5-percent (20-43) from the floor and 91.7-percent (11-12) from the free throw line in 36.8 minutes per game during UT’s two home contests against ranked opponents last week.
In Tuesday’s loss to No. 2/1 Alabama (Feb. 11), Johnson registered a game-high 24 points (9-17 FG, 4-8 threes, 2-2 FT), four assists and three rebounds in 37 minutes. He followed that effort by leading the Longhorns to an 82-78 victory over No. 15/18 Kentucky on Saturday (Feb. 15) with a career-high 32 points (11-26 FG, 9-10 FT), a career-high nine rebounds (five offensive) and three assists in 36 minutes.
On the season, Johnson leads the SEC in scoring (19.8 ppg) and leads the team in minutes (33.3 mpg) while ranking second on the squad in assists (62, 2.6 apg) and tied for third in steals 922). He has reached double figures in scoring in 23 of his 24 games played, topped the 20-point mark ten times and eclipsed the 30-point mark twice. Johnson is converting 37.3-percent (60-161) from three-point range and 87.6-percent (85-97) from the free throw line on the year.
