Led all season by tournament MVP and national player of the year Logan Eggleston, the 2022 national title will be Eggleston’s crowning achievement and this Longhorn team’s legacy.
Eggleston had plenty of help along the way, both on the front row and the back.
Texas not only had the best player and hitter on the court on Saturday night in Eggleston, but they also had the better setter, better libero and better back-row play than Louisville, as well as Madison Skinner and Asjia O’Neal who are front row All-Americans in their own right.
Perhaps their domination is best explained in their results all season long.
The Horns, who finished the year 28-1, did not face a sudden death set in six NCAA tournament matches. Not once.
What’s more, they only faced two such instances all season long. That’s like winning every football game you play by at least two scores.
In a word, this team was dominant.

The play of Texas commitments in the Texas state football championships was encouraging.
On offense, Johntay Cook and Tre Wisner clearly had the juice for DeSoto.
And on defense, Malik Muhammad and Billy Walton played well for South Oak Cliff while Jaden Allen led Aledo in tackles.

Muhammad’s INT return for a TD punctuated their performances. He looked exactly like the smooth, long-armed cornerback that he was projected to be.
