Texas vs. Kansas State opens as a pick ’em
Coming into the season we knew this would be a key stretch for the Texas Longhorns. Texas was to face Oklahoma State and then Kansas State on the road, though the Horns would have the benefit of their bye week in between. While the Horns were resting, Oklahoma State had to go on the road to face a game Kansas State.

After back to back difficult contests versus TCU on the road and Texas at home, the banged up Cowboys were hammered on the road in Manhattan. Kansas State was up 35-0 at the half and went on to win 48-0.

Kansas State is now 4-1 in conference, with its lone loss coming to undefeated and conference leading TCU. The Wildcats control their own destiny. Meanwhile, the Longhorns at 3-2 in conference likely need to win out to have a chance to play in the Big 12 championship game on December 3rd. Given UT’s road woes and the quality of opponent next Saturday, winning out will be a tall order for Steve Sarkisian’s squad.
Circa Sports book’s opening line has the game as a pick ’em. The close line may be counterintuitive to some, but Texas has scored points this season and held a lead in every game played. The Horns’ problem has not been creating leads but sustaining them.
The Longhorns and Wildcats will kick off next Saturday at 6:00 CT and can be viewed on FS1.
