Mitchell notched a career-high 149 receiving yards and one touchdown on eight catches in UT’s victory over No. 23 Kansas State at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The Antioch (Tenn.) Cane Ridge product had 96 yards receiving on three catches in the first quarter alone in helping the Horns establish an early 10-0 lead.
Mitchell hauled in his team-leading eighth receiving touchdown of the year on a 37-yarder, and followed that with a 47-yard reception that set the offense up for a field goal. He later caught three more passes for 44 yards on a fourth quarter field goal drive that regained the lead for the Longhorns after the Wildcats had tied it at 27-27. That included a 14-yarder on a 2nd-and-20 that led to a manageable fourth-down conversion to get into field goal range.
The Longhorns travel to Fort Worth on Saturday, Nov. 11 to square off with TCU at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and the game will broadcast live on ABC.
