The Texas Longhorns finished the 2025 regular season with a 9-1 win over the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday. That victory secured a 42-11 record and a 22-8 Southeastern Conference mark, one that helped Jim Schlossnagle’s program win the conference by two games over the Arkansas Razorbacks.

As a result, the Longhorns locked up the No. 1 seed in the SEC tournament, granting Texas a double-bye into the quarterfinals. Texas’ first game is scheduled for Thursday, May 22 at 3 p.m. It is a single elimination tournament.

The Longhorns will either face Tennessee, who received a single bye into the second round, or one of Missouri or Alabama. No. 9 seed Alabama and No. 16 seed Missouri battle on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. for the right to face the Volunteers on Wednesday. Texas will then face Tennessee or the unlikely first-round winner on Thursday. Texas swept Missouri in Columbia during the regular season but has not yet faced Tennessee or Alabama.

Should Texas win on Wednesday, they’ll face the winner of a game between No. 4 seed Vanderbilt and one of Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Georgia. Texas took two-of-three from Kentucky and Oklahoma this year and swept Georgia. Texas has not yet faced Vanderbilt. That semifinal game will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 14.

The championship is on Sunday, May 25 at 2 p.m.

Every game save for the tournament championship will air on SEC Network. The championship will be on ESPN2.

Texas has not won a tournament championship since 2015 when it won the Big 12 Tournament title.

About the SEC Championship

The Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament returns to the Hoover Metropolitan Complex in the south-Birmingham city of Hoover, Ala., May 20-25.

The tournament is a 16-team, single elimination format, beginning on Tuesday and concluding with the championship game on Sunday. The 16 tournament teams shall be determined based on the highest percentage of wins during regular-season conference competition. The winner of the tournament receives the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

The Hoover Met formerly served as home of the Double-A Birmingham Barons (Chicago White Sox) of the Southern League. The stadium also has served as host of the NCAA Men’s Soccer Final Four, as well as home to the nationally renowned Hoover Buccaneer high school football program.

Located eight miles south of Birmingham, the Hoover Met seats 10,800 for baseball, but can accommodate more than 16,000 when the patio, banquet and side grassy areas are used. The stadium also houses 12 suites in addition to dressing rooms and training rooms.
