The state of Texas boasts 39 top-300 players in On3's updated 2027 rankings

The state of Texas is loaded with high school talent, as usual. Thirty-nine prospects who play their high school football in the Lone Star State were ranked in the top 300 of On3’s updated 2027 prospect rankings.

Texas high school football boasts three players in the top 10 and 10 players in the top 50. On3’s top player in the state in the 2027 class at this juncture is Kingwood offensive tackle Kennedy Brown, who checks in as a five-star prospect and the No. 3 overall player in the junior class. Euless Trinity defensive back John Meredith was right behind him at No. 4 overall nationally, while Cedar Hill defensive tackle Jalen Brewster was the No. 8 overall prospect.

The state of Texas has three players considered the best at their position nationally by On3. Brewster is the No. 1 defensive tackle. Argyle Liberty Christian’s Cooper Witten is the No. 1 linebacker. Palestine Westwood’s Kavian Bryant is the No. 1 quarterback.

Among the top 25 players in state, six are from the Greater Houston area (including Brenham RB Jakoby Dixon for the purposes of this story), 11 are from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, four are from East Texas, three are from San Antonio, and one is from the Austin area.

Texas commit Taven Epps, a product of Tustin (Calif.), was ranked by On3 as the No. 215 overall prospect, the No. 27 EDGE, and the No. 23 player in California.
