Coaching Addition: Texas football welcomes Matt Moran as a new special teams assistant, replacing Jeff Crosby, who moved to Appalachian State. Moran, with a background in philosophy from Bowdoin College and graduate work at Stanford, aims to improve Texas’ special teams performance.
Special Teams Struggles: Texas’ special teams, a strength in Steve Sarkisian’s first three years, became a liability last season. Key issues included missed kicks and penalties negating big plays. The hope is that Moran can rebuild this unit’s effectiveness.
Salaries & Coaching Evolution: Over the last decade, college football coaching salaries have dramatically increased. A comparison of Texas’ 2015 and 2025 coaching staff salaries highlights how assistants today earn more than some FBS head coaches.
