Colin Simmons was the No. 5 player, Anthony Hill was ranked No. 11, and Arch Manning was No. 14.
Here’s what On3 had to say about Simmons…
The man that beat out (Dylan) Stewart for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award, Simmons was an absolute monster for Texas in his rookie year. He was a big part of the defense helping carry the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff and thus is an easy inclusion among the Top 25 players.
The stellar pass-rusher finished the year with 48 tackles, 14.0 tackles for a loss, 9.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, an interception and three passes defended. How’s that for sheer versatility?
Simmons was the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year, a FWAA Freshman All-American, and named to the Freshman All-SEC team for his debut season in burnt orange.
On3 did not provide extended write-ups for Hill and Manning.
Hill was named a second-team All-American by the Sporting News, the Associated Press, and the Walter Camp Football Foundation. He was also named to the All-SEC second team. Hill led the Longhorns in tackles with 113, recorded 16.5 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks, four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and one interception.
