Top PFF grades from Texas' 22-19 overtime loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship

The rematch between Texas and Georgia was a much closer, highly contested battle in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday. Texas dominated the first half, but Georgia, the perennial power of the Southeastern Conference, was too much in the end. UGA topped the Horns, 22-19, in overtime of the SEC Championship. Here are the grades from the game, per PFF.

OFFENSE

QB – Quinn Ewers, 86.0

Ewers actually played a hell of a game on Saturday, going 27-of-46 passing for a season-high 358 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions. Ewers was also sacked six times.

RB – Tre Wisner64.4

After back-to-back 150+ yard games over the last two weeks, Wisner and the rushing attack were held at bay for the most part. He tallied 65 yards on 19 carries and added three catches.

WR – Matthew Golden71.9Deandre Moore, 81.0

Golden and Moore both has season-high performances. Golden notched 162 yards receiving on eight catches, while Moore grabbed 114 yards and a touchdown on a team-high nine catches.

TE – Gunnar Helm40.9

The Mackey Award finalist was quiet on the big stage Saturday.

OL – Hayden Conner68.4, DJ Campbell, 73.9, Jake Majors, 64.5

The Longhorns offensive line helped the Horns to 389 total yards of offense. Goosby was once again tremendous filling in for the injured Kelvin Banks. But the line also gave up six sacks.

DEFENSE

DL/EDGE – Alfred Collins, 69.2, Vernon Broughton, 70.0Trey Moore, 70.2

The defensive line was one reason Georgia was held to 57 yards in the first half, and the Bulldogs still didn’t eclipse the 300-yard mark. Moore added a sack, while Broughton netted six stops.

LB – Anthony Hill Jr51.8, Liona Lefau62.6

Hill and Lefau combined for eight tackles and one tackles for loss. Hill had an interception (taken away) and fumble recovery he almost housed.

CB – Jahdae Barron80.1, Gavin Holmes, 66.1

Barron continues his march towards the Thorpe Award after his late fourth quarter interception gave the Horns life to set themselves up for overtime. Holmes played well too.

S/N – Michael Taaffe, 69.3, Andrew Mukuba82.4

Led by a team-high 11 tackles and two tackles for loss for Mukuba, both safeties continue to play fantastic and had a pair of hits that shook the Bulldogs ball-carriers to their core. Taaffe added four tackles and one TFL.
