Top PFF grades from Texas' 38-24 win over Clemson in the CFB Playoff

The first CFB Playoff in Austin and first matchup between Texas and Clemson turned into an historic day for the Longhorns as they defeated the Tigers, 38-24, and secured a berth in the Peach Bowl vs Arizona State on New Year’s Day. Here are the grades from the game, per PFF.

OFFENSE
QB – Quinn Ewers, 67.7
Ewers was sharp on Saturday, going 17-of-24 passing, 202 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Game Management 101.
RB – Tre Wisner, 75.9, Jaydon Blue, 74.4
The two-headed monster at tailback was the key to Texas’ playoff win. Blue ran for 146 yards and two scores, while Wisner rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns, putting him over the 1,000-yard mark for the season.
WR – Matthew Golden, 55.1, Deandre Moore, 54.4, Ryan Wingo, 60.8
Golden, Moore, and Wingo combined for 85 yards on six catches. A quiet evening from the receivers while the running game and Gunnar Helm held serve on Saturday.
TE – Gunnar Helm, 85.4
The Mackey Award finalist had been quiet lately. Not on Saturday. He snagged seven catches for 77 yards and one touchdown early in the second half.
OL – Kelvin Banks Jr, 75.3 DJ Campbell, 67.0, Jake Majors, 63.5, Cole Hutson, 68.6

The Longhorns offensive line helped the Horns to almost 500 total yards of offense (494). Goosby was once again tremendous filling in for the injured Cam Williams.
DEFENSE
DL/EDGE – Barryn Sorrell, 73.2, Ethan Burke, 72.1, Bill Norton, 72.0
The defensive line and EDGE play continues to carry the Longhorns defense. Burke added four tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one sack. Alfred Collins added five stops.
LB – Anthony Hill Jr, 51.8, Liona Lefau, 78.4
Hill and Lefau combined for 14 tackles and two pass breakups. The UT linebacking duo remains a strength in the program.
CB – Jahdae Barron, 78.5, Malik Muhammad, 59.8
Barron, the 2024 Jim Thorpe Award, was his usual dominant self. He added three tackles and two tackles for loss. Muhammad added five tackles.

S/N – Michael Taaffe, 69.3, Andrew Mukuba, 82.4
Taaffe and Mukuba combined for six tackles and two pass breakups.
