Johnson, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound shooting guard from Dallas (Texas) Lake Highlands and the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 1 overall 2024 prospect, told On3’s Joe Tipton on Monday his recruitment has come down to the following programs: Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Kansas, Kentucky, and Texas.
Johnson, has taken his official visit to Texas already, as well as OVs to Baylor, Kansas, and Kentucky.
Tipton asked Johnson what stands out about the Longhorns.
“(Rodney Terry) and I have had a good relationship always,” Johnson said. “He was my dad’s assistant coach when he was at Baylor. So we’ve always had a good relationship and him getting the head coaching job is really good for him. He also lets his guards play and also uses the bigger guards in the post. The players (stood out on the visit). They all stay in the gym and it’s open 24/7.”

On3 Scouting Report
Tre Johnson is as natural a scorer as there is in the class. Standing at a lengthy 6-5, he’s able to get the shot off over defenders. What really stands out is his ability to create space. His balance is great and can’t talk enough about the footwork. He still needs to continue working on the strength and distinguishing between a shot you can get and a good shot. Johnson has a smooth jump shot, with a repeatable form and release, no matter the level. He averaged 24.0 points on 40.7% 3P in Phoenix.
