T'Vondre Sweat taken in the 2nd round of the 2024 NFL draft by the Tennessee Titans
Another one of Texas’ Big Humans got a big payday. Longhorns defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat, the 2023 Outland Trophy winner, the 2023 Big 12 defensive player of the year, and a consensus All-American, was taken with the 38th overall pick by the Tennessee Titans in the 2nd round of the 2024 NFL draft.

Sweat, a fifth-year senior from Huntsville (Texas), enjoyed a career year in 2023. He accumulated 45 tackles with 8.0 TFL and 2.0 sacks, plus four passes defended and a PAT blocked during his All-American season. He was a critical part of Texas’ No. 3 rush defense and efforts in reaching the last iteration of the four-team College Football Playoff. In addition to his strong showing on defense, Sweat recorded a touchdown reception on offense against Oklahoma State in the 2023 Big 12 Championship.
He appeared in 62 games in his career. During the 2022 season, Sweat recorded 30 tackles with 2.5 for loss plus 4 passes defended. As part of the Longhorns in 2021, Sweat was credited with 22 tackles with 2.0 for loss and 1 sacks along with 3 passes defended.
The 2020 season saw Sweat also tally 22 tackles with 4.0 for loss and a sack. He had one pass defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery iin the COVID-19 affected season.

His freshman season in 2019, Sweat played 13 games with nine tackles, 1.0 sacks, and two passes defended along with a fumble recovery.
Sweat was rated as the No. 659 overall prospect, the No. 73 defensive lineman, and the No. 82 player in Texas according to the 2019 On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

On3 had not begun to rank players in the 2021 class.
Sweat is the third Longhorn taken in the 2024 draft along with Byron Murphy and Xavier Worthy.
