Sanders was a freshman catcher for the Longhorns during the 2024 season, appearing in nine games with four starts and batting .056. He had one hit, one RBI, and one walk while striking out eight times. A product of Waco (Texas) University, Sanders elected to join the football program as a walk-on during preseason camp for the 2024 Longhorns, but never was a serious candidate to contribute in spite of running back injuries to CJ Baxter and Christian Clark.
The decision to join Steve Sarkisian’s program put him behind the eight ball when it came to his future with Jim Schlossnagle and the Longhorn baseball team. Sanders is not listed on the 2025 Texas baseball roster.
For the football program, Baxter, Clark, Quintrevion Wisner, Jerrick Gibson, Rickey Stewart, Ryan Niblett, and James Simon will man the running back room in 2025. At the catcher position, the Longhorns have Rylan Galvan, Kimble Schuessler, Oliver Service, and Cole Chamberlain on the roster.
