Vine Time: Texas defeats Baylor
To err is Longhorn, but to not forgive Baylor is in the Vines. Here’s a closer look after UT’s 35-34 win over No. 8 Baylor on Saturday.

Foreman 13 yards on slice: Easily the most successful play on the day featured a game Andrew Beck slicing across the formation to kick the end or linebacker. This was foreshadowing of things to come.
Foreman drive finishes with a drop in the bucket: Seven play calls, seven gives to a Foreman. Left side of the line is a wall, including Beck who has a nice pass set and regroup.
Kris Boyd and PJ Locke tip drill (in the football sense): When you can play off on KD Cannon and adjust to a quick pass, you’re special. An ill-advised throw by Russell is punished by Boyd’s ability to beat Cannon to the ball. Great adjustment to the ball by Locke.
Foreman to the house: Williams realizes his guy washed himself out of the play so he immediately climbs and gets the block that springs Foreman. Beck gets his kick. Foreman does the rest. This is the type of run I’ll remember Foreman for. Subtle everything: feet, hips, acceleration, culminating in a not-so-sublte cannon blast.
Malik overrun: Malik tries to beat the runner to a spot, but his footwork allows the cut back. You can’t cross your feet in this position.
Burt PBU: It’s 3rd down so the corner knows Burt’s likely to squat at the sticks. He makes a good play. Burt shows terrible awareness on the following play as he fails to work back to his quarterback. The CB makes another good play for the pick. The pick on 4th down is better than an incompletion, but Burt has to do better.
4th and long presents chaos opportunity: Strong’s dream scenario where he can put Hager and Roach on the ends and put Malik out wide on trips. Texas rushes five and pin-balls Russell.
Armanti long-gainer then fumble: Play-calling was oft-maligned but this is brilliant. The safety was coming no matter what and Foreman’s in-cut provides a free release. Baylor’s DB’s are freakishly fast, otherwise this is a touchdown. Instead, Foreman is stripped from behind like Scipio’s house boy.
Best safety help all year: Roach-Omenihu-Boyette-Nelson-Hager in a position to pin their ears back. Boyette beats his man and forces the hold. Referee puts up the Walk Like an Egyptian sign for two points. Strong never has traditional pool numbers for scores.
Foreman outside bounce: This is so hilarious I had to tweet it out last night. The linebacker does a poor job of mirroring Foreman, the corner does a poor job of pretending he has any interest in making a play on the physics headed his way.

TD to Cannon to end 1st half: Hill playing off on Cannon for some reason. If he presses and is allowed to re-route, Haines has time to make a play. Maybe.
DF1K: Note the similarities to when Ricky broke the NCAA rushing record. Then note the difference. Damn, Ricky was not of this world.
Foreman hits slice backside: No gap is safe with Foreman’s vision, but he actually had a big hole on playside too.
Freeman TFL. Had to have it: Freeman says “f*** it, I’m getting the quarterback” His stellar quickness negates Russell giving to the back.
Maybe the defensive play of the game. Almost everybody getting off blocks: Texas manhandles Baylor, except for the center on Freeman. That center block has to give Halas a tingle.
Lo-Joe Cinco with a huge gallop: Texas runs a bit of a rub which gives Joe just enough space to catch the ball. He turns up field and finds plenty of green space to run. Note the awareness of covering up the ball. Good things happen when you throw to Lorenzo.
Beck mismatch: Another great play call. Beck’s been blocking the d-end all day but now he finds a simple release. The giant d-end has no chance.
Just follow your blockers, Tyrone: Simple power but Swoopes somehow misses the crease between Perkins and Beck. Odd, he’s run this 1000 times.
