WATCH: Arch Manning hits Jaydon Blue for a touchdown pass in his first career start
After an early interception, Arch Manning made sure to get right on a short field thanks to an interception by Anthony Hill Jr. and net the first touchdown pass of his first career start.

The three-yard score was Blue’s second touchdown of the day. His first was a one-yard rush, his first rushing touchdown of the season.
Earlier in the game, Manning was intercepted by Carl Fauntroy for the first pick of his career. The next series, he recovered nicely to hit Isaiah Bond for a deep 56-yard pass that set up Blue’s first score.
Last week in relief of Quinn Ewers, Manning was 9-for-12 for 223 yards and four touchdowns. He also added a 67-yard rushing touchdown on a zone read keeper.
His only other appearance during the 2024 season was against Colorado State, when he netted his first career touchdown pass. Manning was 5-for-6 for 95 yards and a score to Silas Bolden.
On Saturday, former Alabama head coach Nick Saban broke down several Manning plays, and explained how beneficial the experience Manning is receiving against the Warhawks will be for the young QB.
“I don’t think there’s anything like experience and playing in the game,” Saban said. “He’s going to learn from every one of these mistakes he makes in practice, but he’s also going to learn more when he’s playing in the game.”
Texas is up 14-0 late in the first quarter.
