WATCH: Arch Manning runs away from the Roadrunner defense for a 67-yard touchdown
There were a couple of underrated traits regarding Arch Manning, the top player in the 2023 recruiting class. While many focused on his last name, and whether he was overrated because of it, those in the know understood he had the passing mechanics of his two very famous uncles. In addition to the technical savvy, he also had his grandfather’s and father’s athletic ability. His father, Cooper, was a former college wide receiver.

Proof of said athleticism:
Appreciate how he gears down.
During the summer of his first year on campus IT reported Manning tested faster than a handful of defensive backs in the ‘flying 20’. The flying 20 measures a players top speed between 20-30 yards.
Manning running won’t be a feature of the offense but it will be a constraint for defenses overplaying running backs and receivers. It’s this element, in addition to his toughness, most people have underrated.
With more playing time like he’s guaranteed in the coming years, fans and NFL scouts will come to realize there is no weakness in his game.

The latest a quarterback has ever been drafted in his family was 1.2. That was Archie. Both uncles, Peyton and Eli, went 1.1.

Barring injury, privately it has been obvious behind the scenes where Arch is headed. This play was just a taste of what will happen publicly.
