Texas senior running back Roschon Johnson wanted to go out in style in his last home game in Austin for the Longhorns on Friday. He decided Superman was the proper inspiration.

With 3:48 remaining in the contest, Johnson took a handoff 11 yards to the corner of the end zone. He had one Baylor defender in the way. So Johnson took to the air.

It was Johnson’s second touchdown of the game and put the nail in the coffin of Baylor’s regular season.

Johnson notched 77 yards rushing and two scores on 13 carries on UT’s Senior Day. Johnson’s 5.9 yards per carry was only .3 behind fellow tailback Bijan Robinson (6.2 ypc), who tallied a game-high 179 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 29 touches.

It’s a bittersweet Friday as Johnson is moving on to the NFL after four seasons in Austin. Johnson has 2,190 yards rushing and 23 rushing scores over his Texas career.

Sarkisian heaped praise on his team leader one final time.

“He could probably be starting at a bunch of other schools, yet what does he do? He maximizes his opportunities every time he gets it. He doesn’t count his reps, he makes his reps count. He starts on four special teams. He runs down on kickoff and makes tackles, and handles our punt team. He does all the little things the right way. Every time I meet with a young player, I always reference ‘how can you be more like him? That’s what your goal should be because that guy does it the right way.”

“He’s got a bright, bright future on the football field, but he’s got probably a brighter future off the football field because of who he is as a person.”
