The freshman quarterback hit Ja’Tavion Sanders for his first touchdown at Texas. The 19-yard connection gave the Horns the 13-3 advantage late in the first quarter. It was also Denton (Texas) Ryan tight end Sanders’ first touchdown catch as a Longhorn. The duo actually worked out together last winter before Ewers enrolled at Texas.

Ahead of Ewers’ first career start, Steve Sarkisian emphasizing trust in his coaches and teammates.
Was Ewers nervous for his first start in burnt orange?
“I don’t know if it’s ‘anxious’ at all,” Ewers said Monday. “I’m just really happy to have the opportunity to go out on the field and have these great teammates.”
He met with the media on Monday, just like in his Friday availability, and was his calm, stoic self that understood what was ahead of him.
Inside Texas’ Joe Cook wrote about Ewers recently.
“Quinn Ewers was considered a top-two prospect in the 2022 class by all the major services. His passing ability at 6-foot-2 and 206 pounds paired with already strong yet still budding athleticism had schools from across the country after his services. This era’s transfer rules and NIL regulations plus Hudson Card’s presence on the Forty Acres meant Ewers had to wait a year (and win a competition) in order to show his ability. But once Steve Sarkisian made the call last Friday, the spotlight fell upon No. 3.”
Ewers has a $1.5 million-dollar NIL evaluation, determined by On3, 12th in the nation in college football.
