WATCH: The coin flip to determine the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament comes up South Carolina

Southeastern Conference commissioner Greg Sankey had to flip a coin to determine whether the Texas Longhorns or the South Carolina Gamecocks, the regular season co-champions in women’s basketball, would be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament.

The coin flip came up South Carolina.
The tiebreaker started with head to head record. Since the Longhorns and Gamecocks split the season series, next was record against highest ranked common conference opponents. Neither team has another conference loss, meaning they moved to the third tiebreaker: the coin flip.
Texas will be the No. 2 seed and play the winner of the matchup between the No. 7 seed and whoever advances from a first-round game between the Nos. 10 and 15 seeds. The game will be at 5 p.m. Central on Friday. South Carolina will play at 11 a.m. on Friday.
