Ewers on making the CFP: “Super proud of how this team handles everything that comes their way. We just continue to do what we do and not worry about what’s going on outside of this building. We’re just super blessed to be able to take part in this upcoming playoff.”

Ewers on matching up with Washington: “It’s unreal. I get goosebumps every time I even think about it. Truly honored to be a part of a team that works this hard. I know we’re going to come to play. We played Washington in the Alamo Bowl last year. It’s kind of funny how that all works out. Couldn’t be more excited for this amazing opportunity.”

Ewers on what’s different this year compared to last year: “I think there’s a dramatic difference. We’ve been in a lot closer games, and last year I don’t think we closed out those close games. This year, I think we’re more than capable of staying poised and staying level headed and able to finish out those games.”

Ford on making the CFP: “It feels good. First timers! Glad getting the feeling of when you start off in the offseason, when you start in January, me making that decision to come back, then for the team and everybody all collectively having that same goal of trying to win a national championship with the type of team we have, the type of team that we built, and then actually coming this far and getting a chance to play for it is huge. Everybody is jumping for joy because that’s what we wanted right from the jump. To finally be in this position, it’s amazing to say the least.”

Ford on if they thought they’d make it to this point: “I think we did believe, and that’s what got us here: the constant wanting to be better.”

Ford on adding a new leg to the revenge tour: “Another rematch. All this year, our thing was teams that we lost to last year, giving them our best shot again. To see that us and Washington are in the college playoff after being in the Alamo Bowl last year, it’s kind of ironic you know? They’ve got a good team. I think for us, we’re ready to finally get a chance to show what Texas football is.”
