Where have Texas players who entered the transfer portal ended up?

Fifteen players who were on the Texas football team’s roster through the 2022 campaign have announced their intentions to play elsewhere next season.

The list includes a quarterback who started three games, a much-touted receiver who was kept off the field for much of his stint on 40 Acres because of injury, a former starter on the offensive line, and a linebacker that finished sixth on the team in tackles and forced two fumbles.

Also included below is a player who entered the portal prior to the 2022 season.

Players have until Jan. 18 to enter the transfer portal, so there could be some additions to this roster. Here’s a look at the former Texas players and where they will be in action in 2023 and, on some cases, beyond:

OL Jaylen Garth

Destination: Houston

Garth entered the transfer portal before the season began and elected to move to Houston

LS Zach Edwards

Destination: N/A

Edwards transferred from Oklahoma in 2019, and succeeded Justin Mader as long snapper.

WR Agiye Hall

Destination: N/A

After a tumultuous time in Austin, Hall is looking for his third school in three years.

OL Logan Parr

Destination: N/A

Parr, a graduate transfer, played mostly in backup roles and on special teams.

OL Junior Angilau

Destination: Oregon

Angilau started 34 games for the Longhorns, but tore his ACL in preseason camp. He moves closer to home in Eugene, Ore.

P Isaac Pearson

Destination: N/A

Pearson, an Australia native, played in the 2022 season-opener versus ULM.

DB Jamier Johnson

Destination: Indiana

Johnson had 17 appearances and one start for the Longhorns at corner.

WR Troy Omeire

Destination: N/A

Injuries in successive preseasons derailed Omeire’s Texas career before it could even begin. He was able to bounce back in 2022 and play in four games with one reception.

EDGE Prince Dorbah

Destination: Arizona St.

Dorbah totaled 11 tackles in his three year career, including seven tackles in five appearances in 2022.

Karic played in 26 games with five starts, and started several games for the Longhorns as a blocking tight end in 2022.

EDGE DJ Harris Jr.

Destination: N/A

Harris played in three career games for the Longhorns.

DB JD Coffey

Destination: N/A

Coffey played in six games in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

QB Hudson Card

Destination: Purdue

Card played in 22 games for the Longhorns with five starts. He started three games in Quinn Ewers’ absence in 2022.

LB Devin Richardson

Destination: Washington St.

A transfer from New Mexico State ahead of the 2021 season, Richardson played in 20 games as a Longhorn

QB Ben Ballard

Destination: Florida Atlantic

A walk-on from Austin, Ballard reunites with former Texas head coach Tom Herman at FAU.

LB Ovie Oghoufo

Destination: N/A

Oghoufo transferred from Notre Dame ahead of the 2021 season. He recorded 96 tackles with 14 for loss and 4.5 sacks in his two year Texas career.
