Who is going to win the wide open SEC?

Hell if I know.

Texas A&M is 6-0, including 4-0 in conference, since Aggie fans committed their third coup in less than a year and fired Mike Elko following the opening loss to Notre Dame. I’m not sure if defensive coordinator Jay Bateman or offensive coordinator Collin Klein took the reins but somebody is doing a great job in College Station. Aggie sits atop the SEC with a massive game versus LSU on Saturday. LSU is the only other unbeaten conference team.

I’m pretty sure LSU fans fired Brian Kelly after the Tigers managed to lose to Lincoln Riley and USC, something Michigan, Penn State, Minnesota (LOL), and Maryland (LMFAO) couldn’t do.

I have no idea how good these two teams are but I know they’re not bad. The winner will have the pole position to finish runner-up in the SEC Championship game.

A&M finishes with a tough road game to South Carolina, New Mexico State at home, at Auburn, and home against Texas. LSU follows this game up with a bye, then a listing Alabama at home, at Florida, Vandy at home, and Oklahoma at home.

I sincerely don’t want to cheer on LSU but I find south Louisiana endearing in all its filth, plus they play the Ags and Okies. But Texas does need them to lose at least once. Texas controls its own destiny against A&M but the 12th Man will have something to say about that.

I picked LSU to win on Saturday but that’s a battle of the head and heart. Could go either way, neither have a good track record.

Georgia is the best team in the conference after the Bulldogs dominated the Texas offense. Kirby Smart is going to have cocktails tomorrow as his team pushes Florida and Billy Napier around like a Mississippi State quarterback. After that they have a tough (on paper) back to back of at Ole Miss and at home against Tennessee. I wish the venues were reversed. I think Georgia wins both and makes it to the SEC title game yet again.

Texas has a spirited Vandy bunch this week, then a bye, then Florida, then at Arkansas, home against Kentucky, and finishes with the Aggies on the road. There are some losable games ahead for the Horns. I need to see how they bounce back this weekend. My recency bias doesn’t have me booking flights to Atlanta just yet.

Missouri sucks. I’m not writing about them. Sorry GoHornsGo90.

UT-Ozempic is interesting because they have the ability to upset Georgia on the road. Other than that the schedule isn’t that hard. They get Kentucky at home and Vanderbilt at home No. 2. I don’t think they’re likely for the SEC crown but they’re looking good for the playoffs.

It would take an act of God for Alabama to make the playoffs but he retired in January.

Georgia, A&M, LSU, and Texas are real threats to win the SEC. Georgia is the most likely to make it to the title game. After that I like UT’s chances but there’s work to be done.
