With Super Bowl week officially kicking off on Monday, some of the biggest stars in the NFL are returning to the spotlight (we know you didn’t watch the Pro Bowl).

A number of interviews and media promotions are filling many viewers’ feeds, and a pair of familiar faces might’ve popped up for many Longhorn fans. Cooper Manning, father of Texas quarterback Arch Manning, flexed his interviewing skills, or lack thereof, in an interview with Texas legend Xavier Worthy.
In the interview between the two, Worthy stated a surprising claim.
“Arch probably can get me in a 10 (yard dash),” Worthy said about his former teammate. “Arch is fast.”
Pretty heady words from the man who broke the NFL’s 40 yard dash record less than one year ago. Since then, Worthy has been an integral part of the Kansas City Chiefs offense, recording a rookie-high 10 scrimmage touchdowns and 742 yards from scrimmage thanks to quality distribution from Patrick Mahomes.

The speedster shared the sentiment that a lot of Olympic sprinters do, the first 10 meters are some of their slowest. Whether it was just humble joking or what Worthy truly believes, it is fun to hear that your starting QB may be quicker out of the gate than the NFL’s fastest ever.
Texas fans, of course, have seen this speed. Manning’s wheels were on full display when he took a read option 67 yards against UTSA in relief of starting quarterback Quinn Ewers. Manning was already moving when he met the Road Runner safety nine yards past the line of scrimmage, but the real jaw-dropping moment came from his nasty juke and breakaway speed to give Texas its fourth touchdown of the game.

Worthy’s speed will be on full display this Sunday when the Chiefs face the Philadelphia Eagles to decide the NFL champion. While Manning won’t be hitting the gridiron for a while, the hype around Texas’ next gun slinger will only continue to grow as we approach the 2025 CFB season.
