7 p.m.: The USC Trojans Marching Band Pep Rally inEmbarcadero Plaza

One of the true highlights of the Bay Area Weekender, the Trojans Marching Band and USC Song Girls will spearhead a pep rally at Embarcadero Plaza at 7 p.m. Expect fellow Trojans fans to get fired up and expect to see a celebrity or two come to the microphone. Get there early to secure a space in the Embarcadero Plaza and hustle to get an acceptable viewing spot. Expect to see a lot of onlookers that will be made up of the curious and even some Bears fans. The sound of the Trojans Marching Band bouncing off the buildings will bring chills, as will the expected cool temperature coming right off the bay.

Parking on the City of Berkeley Residential Streets

Parking on residential streets in the City of Berkeley is limited to no more than 2 hours without the appropriate neighborhood Residential Parking Permit (RPP). Cars parked for more than the allowed 2 hours will be ticketed and fined. On Football Game Days, that fine is DOUBLED for the Residential Areas A, B and D. That doubled fine would amount to $72 each. When traveling to a game, Public Transportation is recommended.

Tommy Trojan Game Day Tips

Cal Campus – One of the more beautiful campuses in the country, the only drawback is that the property is extremely hilly. Memorial Stadium rests on top of a hill in an area called Strawberry Canyon, but the daytime view from the top of the stadium to the west overlooking the San Francisco Bay in the distance can be spectacular if there’s no fog or haze. On the east side of Memorial Stadium is Tightwad Hill, which allows fans to view the game from a distance for free.

Street parking may be available on gameday, however please read restriction signs carefully. Parking fines are doubled on Cal football gamedays.

Memorial Stadium Bag Policy: Approved bags include clear tote bags, plastic storage bags, and small clutch bags.

Gate Information: California Memorial Stadium gates open 2 hours prior to kickoff.  Guests may enter the stadium at the gate of their choosing.

Tailgate Town at Maxwell Field
The official pregame tailgate location for every Cal home football game. Tailgate Town opens three hours prior to kick-off on Maxwell Family Field, adjacent to the north entrance of Memorial Stadium. Admission is free for all fans!

  • Beer garden and concessions
  • Kids Zone
  • Cornhole, Giant Jenga and other fun games
  • Tables and seating for the public
  • Sponsor giveaways and activities
  • Pregame Concert Series begins 2 hours prior to kickoff

Restricted items in Tailgate Town:
Outside alcohol of any kind, grills or bbqs, glass/metal bottles, umbrellas, animals, cans, handcuffs, banners, balls, cans, sticks/poles, spiked attire/chains, fireworks, artificial noise makers, weapons, hard coolers, personal video cameras, hard fruit or vegetables (unless cut into small pieces), Frisbees.

Cal Bears Walk: A Cal football tradition, March to Victory takes place approximately two hours before kickoff of each home game. The team will march up the Haas Grand Staircase and into the stadium through Gate 1. Golden Bear fans form a human tunnel outside the north end of Memorial Stadium to cheer on the team as it marches into its locker room.

Trojan Walk – The Trojans team should arrive at Memorial Stadium at approximately 10:00 a.m. Get there early because the parking lot area is very small and with a large fan turnout, it becomes a very congested area.
