2025 Texas TE Bear Tenney drops top-12, commitment coming "soon"
It was just yesterday I published an update on 2025 Lucas (Tex.) Lovejoy’s Bear Tenney and his want to visit USC in the near future. Well, Tenney has now taken an interesting step in his recruitment as he released a top-12 group, of which USC is named in.
Tenney is ranked as the No. 415 overall prospect and No. 12 tight end in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 42 prospect in Texas.
The full list of 12 schools is USC, Georgia, Auburn, Colorado, Michigan, Ohio State, LSU, Oregon, Penn State, Texas, Tennessee, and Utah.
Tenney also announces in his post that “commitment coming soon”.
The 6-foot-5, 225 pound prospect has only been in Texas a short period of time, moving from Gilbert Gilbert (Ariz.) Hamilton this spring. Being a west coast native, USC may have an easier time recruiting him.
Tenney picked up his offer from USC back in January, so he has been on the board for a decent amount of time.
Tenney has visited USC one time in his recruitment during his freshman season. There is clearly a significant level of interest taking a look at Tenney’s socials.
In the first two weeks of August, Tenney has made three separate Twitter posts highlighting the recruiting efforts of USC. It is clear that USC thinks highly of Tenney at this time.

The production vs. the offers
You will look at Tenney’s prospect profile and see he holds 29 offers from some of the top programs in the nation. These offers include USC, Georgia, Ohio State, LSU, Oregon, Auburn, Michigan, Tennessee, and others.
You will then see on MaxPreps that Tenney has only 15 catches for 149 yards receiving and three touchdowns in his high school career so far. So, his hype and love from college programs is not based just off his high school film to this point, but what they have seen him do in camps and other measurable events.
His production will increase greatly in his junior season at Lucas (Tex.) Lovejoy.
USC’s 2025 class
USC holds one commitment in the 2025 class in Oxford (Ala.) Thompson four-star safety Anquon Fegans.
Fegans is the No. 30 overall prospect and No. 2 safety in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also ranked as the No. 4 player in Alabama.
Taking a look at the 2025 class, it is looking like the Trojans are taking a similar approach to the 2024 cycle. Hanson and Lincoln Riley have only offered five prospects in the current cycle and are currently sitting on only four offers extended in 2025. It remains likely they will add to list over the next year, but we can assume these current offers are their top choices as of now. All four remain uncommitted.
