4-star safety Marquis Gallegos announces commitment date, starts OV tomorrow
One of the top defensive back targets for USC in the 2024 cycle has made a major announcement tonight. West Hills (CA) Chaminade High four-star safety Marquis Gallegos has announced a commitment date of June 27.
The 6-foot-1, 180 pounder also announced a top-5 group. He is down to the following: USC, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Oklahoma.
Gallegos ranks as the No. 227 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 18 safety and the No. 19 player in the state of California.
On3 ranks Gallegos higher than the rest of the industry, tabbing him as the No. 161 overall prospect and No. 3 safety in the 2024 class.
Gallegos is set to begin his USC official visit tomorrow, Friday, June 16.
His official visit to USC will be his sixth visit to campus, according to the On3 Visit Center. The only other official visit he has set is Oregon on June 23.
On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, USC currently has a big lead to land a commitment from Gallegos at 86.5%.
WeAreSC’s Scott Schrader logged a prediction in favor of the Trojans shortly after Gallegos announced when he will be committing.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $64K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Gallegos to On3 on his finalists
USC: “Always been a big USC fan growing up because I’m from California and the direction that Lincoln Riley has the program headed is big time for them.”
Michigan: “Michigan has the biggest winning culture in college football and with a veteran coach like Harbaugh you know what you’re going to get out of them and that’s competing for a national championship.”
Notre Dame: “Notre Dame’s tradition is unmatched and with the value of getting a degree from there it could set you up great for life after football as well.”
