The USC Trojans got off to a superb start to the 2024 season with a come-from-behind 27-20 win against the LSU Tigers in Las Vegas on Sunday night. The WeAreSC panel got together after the game to give their 5 Things from the USC win, including player of the game, play of the game, expectation met, surprise and biggest takeaway.

There were so many players and plays of the game to choose from. A couple of offensive standouts were selected, while one panel member (cough, cough) decided to cheat a bit on his selection.

Likewise, the plays of the game were from both sides of the ball and stretched from the first drive of the game to the final seconds.

Expectations and surprises blended a bit in this one as things we might have expected went to greater extents than we were prepared for. Though, Greg Katz had fair warning on how LSU head coach Brian Kelly might react to a tough loss for the Tigers.

And as far as the biggest takeaways, how can this game not take the excitement for the rest of the season to another level?
