One of USC’s biggest offseason additions via the transfer portal is officially in Los Angeles as former Georgia defensive lineman Bear Alexander arrived this past Sunday.

The 6-foot-3, 305-pound lineman indicated his plans to enter the transfer portal on April 15, the first day of the spring window. USC immediately became a potential destination for Alexander when he entered the portal. He took an official visit to see the Trojans and announced his commitment on April 23.

The Texas native spent just one year in Athens and is now making himself at home in Los Angeles. And did he ever find a place to make himself at home. Alexander took to Instagram to provide a tour of his new digs.

Alexander referred to it as his “first apartment” in the video’s caption.

“Transitioning from fitting in to standing out beyond blessed,” Alexander posted under the video.

It is likely not comparable to the first apartments lived in by many college sophomores. But it does offer a good look at the living conditions available for players who want to take advantage of what Los Angeles has to offer.

USC’s Success in the Transfer Portal

USC had tremendous success in the transfer portal ahead of the 2022 season in Lincoln Riley’s first offseason at USC. The Trojans landed quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Jordan Addison, the top two players available in the portal that offseason.

This offseason, Riley and the Trojans added transfer portal players at a number of positions. But it’s clear their focus was on the defensive front seven.

Alexander was the big name. He comes over after a strong season as a true freshman at Georgia. The lasting memory will be his two tackles for loss and a sack in the National Championship game against TCU.

But he joins a group of players who could all earn starter’s snaps along the defensive front. Former Texas A&M lineman Anthony Lucas is a potential starter at defensive end or rush end. Former Purdue lineman Jack Sullivan could play defensive end or tackle. And former Arizona lineman Kyon Barrs looks like a potential starter at nose tackle. Rush end Jamil Muhammad and inside linebacker Mason Cobb add to the new talent haul up front.
