BREAKING: Elite 4-Star CB Dakoda Fields Commits to USC
USC offered Elite 4-Star CB Dakoda Fields last April and the Trojans have been vigorously pursuing since. Coach Donte Williams is leading the charge, but unlike it was with his former Serra teammate Rodrick Pleasant, the entire USC coaching staff is recruiting Fields.
On April 15 Fields and his father were at the USC Spring Game. That was USC visit No. 7 and came after a very strong visit to Oregon. The Spring Game visit also came after an extremely impactful March 4 USC unofficial visit.
Saturday night USC Football’s Twitter page threw up the “Fight On” commitment Bat Signal. We saw two more “Bat Signals” on Sunday.
Although his plan heading not the USC visit was to announce his commitment to the Trojans after his official visit on Sunday, Fields waited until Monday morning to announce his USC commitment.
What about Oregon?
Most of the fans following USC and Oregon recruiting closely believed Fields was a lock for Oregon. He may still take his official visit to Eugene later this month, but Fields knew prior to this weekend he’d commit to USC after the weekend visit.

Fields sent us a text on May 28 about his commitment plans.
“I’m trying to convince my family to let me commit on Sunday at the end of the visit,” said Fields. “Maybe they’ll let me depending on how well the visit is going….which I know will be great.”
Part of the text exchange included details about why USC was his choice.
“I’ve taken a lot of time discussing with family over the past couple months after my most recent USC and Oregon visits,” Fields said. “I realized it’s really a two team race in my recruiting. Me and the family have been taking our time writing pros and cons on all of the schools trying to figure out who checks majority of the boxes. For me it’s USC.
“I’ve been to both schools a fair amount of times and feel like when it comes to football, they’re evenly matched. What gives USC the edge is the value of the degree and the endless amount of networking opportunities. So, because I feel like I would succeed at both schools in football, I decided to choose the school that will give me the best experience and success off the field….and that’s SC.”
The part USC fans will love most is this part of the Fields text.
“The reason I’ve decided to commit right after my visit is because I want to start picking up momentum for our class,” he said. “I also want to start networking with as many people as I can that are associated with the school. And I actually have a crazy idea. I know Oregon has all the momentum right now, but I think it will be crazy if the top three corners in California; Zabien, Me, and Celles all go to USC.
“It feels like if we can make it happen, the narrative will definitely start to shift. I take my official with Zabien, so I’ll talk to him to see where his head is at. Then hopefully all three of us can discuss and get it done soon.”
While the feeling right now is Brown is favoring Alabama, we’re told USC is the school to beat for Humble (TX) CB Braylon Conley.
The significant effect of Fields’s March 4th visit
Fields has been to USC many times, but some visits are different than others. His March 4 visit with his entire family put the Trojans firmly in the mix. Prior that visit, it didn’t appear USC stood much of a chance.
“They gave me a thing called ‘The Player Panel’. Which is where they get a group of players, most of them at my position, and they just gave me an interview about what it’s like being a student athlete at USC.”
The talented corner has already figured out what he would like to major in.
“I got to have a meeting with the Head of the Real Estate program, which is something I want to major in so that was pretty exciting too,” Fields said.
